- Have a superhuman ability to keep your inbox at zero
- Have the stamina of an Olympian
- Have worked as an account/project manager
- Have experience estimating design or development contracts
- Don’t care about any of the above because you have infinite grit
…we have a spot for you on our Happiness Team at Crew.
And we’re aiming to have all 4 positions filled by March.
Location: Ideally you’re based out of Montreal, but we’re open to remote. Even though many of us are located in Montreal, we still operate as a distributed team, so you should be comfortable working with tools like Slack, Trello, and Google Docs, and understand the level of communication required to be a good remote teammate.
Perks: Flexible vacation & an annual company retreat somewhere warm. The option to work from anywhere you want. All the tools you need to get your job done. And a few other surprises like a Spotify account to keep you jamming when the workload piles up.
Pay: You know it. We have competitive salaries and stock options for all employees.

First: A bit about us
Early on, Crew was nothing more than a sign-up form and email newsletter. Our product technology was unimpressive. But our product experience — the “treating people right” part — made things work.
Because it had to. We wouldn’t have made it very far with a bad attitude and a site that looked like this:
Since those early days, going above and beyond for our customers has become part of our bones.
When we first started out, I put my personal cell phone number at the end of every support email we sent.
While travelling to New York, Boston, and San Francisco to talk to potential investors, I’d nip out of meetings to grab WiFi and answer calls or host conference calls in coffee shops.
(I even set up one of our most important calls in the corner of a shoe store!)
We’re a tech company so this stuff might seem like not a big deal but it matters.
The hustle is real and even today when we see thousands of projects a month come through Crew our livelihood and success still comes down to giving a damn and making every single person feel looked after.
Whether we’re responding to a tweet, emailing a customer, or hosting a concert at our office, we want every interaction people have with our company to feel good.
As a founder, I try to answer every ‘human’ email I get. As a team, we try to answer all customer questions within 24 hours (but we actually want this to be much faster).
Even though we’re growing fast, we want every single person who takes the time to try us or message us to be shouting from the rooftops about how happy they are with Crew. If you choose us, we want you to feel like signing up was the best decision you ever made.
What we do (and what you’ll do if you join our crew)
We connect top-quality independent designers and developers with handpicked branding, website, and app projects. In just three years, we’ve run thousands of projects through Crew (worth several million dollars) and have some awesome investors backing us.
At Crew, we believe it’s much better to have 1,000 people who love what you do rather than 10,000 people who merely like it.
Whatever we’re putting out, whether it’s an email, product announcement, or tweet, it has to create value.
Which is why your job is so important. As a member of the Happiness/Community Team, you’ll be the primary point of contact with our members. So it’s up to you whether they fall in love with Crew, or whether they ghost.
You can write 100 mediocre emails that get 10 responses or you can write 10 thoughtful emails that get 10 responses. The latter is what we’re after.
And we want to build a team that embodies this exact value.
Why you should come join us
Every day you’ll get to chat, tweet, and exchange messages with some of the most talented creative professionals in the world.
You’ll also be working alongside super talented people. We are extremely selective in our hiring process, and it shows. Our work has frequently been featured in notable publications like Quartz, Fast Company, and The Next Web.
What it’s like to work with us
We have a lot of fun at Crew, but that’s because we enjoy what we do. Every single one of my teammates is bright and cares a lot about the work they create.
As a teammate at Crew, we trust in your ability to do great things. We want you to feel like you run the ship for all the projects you work on. We give you all the support you need — but you also have the autonomy to manage yourself.
We also don’t set work hours. You make your own schedule and work from wherever you want (most of the time). We have a few meetings where we need to be together, but you are mostly in charge of how you want to shape your day.
In our experience, this has made us immensely more productive. While I prefer to work in the morning, a lot of us prefer to burn the midnight oil. We believe you should be able to structure your schedule for what makes you feel the most energetic, creative, and happy.
We love people who try things, who write things, who tinker. If you have ideas that would be useful for our customers, we won’t hold you back. Instead, we’ll help provide the resources to make it happen, whether it’s helping with design or getting press coverage.
We’ll give oxygen to your ideas. Not shut them down.
It will be fun, but it will be challenging
We have a high bar for quality and will never release something if we wouldn’t share it ourselves.
Hitting this level of quality over and over with speed isn’t easy. It requires stamina and an ability to constantly understand priorities.
We don’t expect you to be working all hours of the day to get work done but it can feel like it if you don’t have a strong ability to prioritize.
No one will be looking over your shoulder making sure you did something. We’ll have weekly and monthly catch-ups and many opportunities to regularly chat but you will largely be in charge of what you do with your time.
The work you create and share will be seen by hundreds of thousands of people. And you’ll regularly get to work with some of the top people in the web industry.
If anything in this post resonates with you, we‘d love to hear from you. We’ve got a team I couldn’t be prouder to be a part of, inspiring members, and a community full of exceptional people. Come join the gang:
