This is the first post in a new section of Crew called Backstage.
Here is where we will share things we’re thinking about doing or things we are doing, and explain why we’re doing them. There’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes when building a company. And we don’t always know the right answers but our goal is to lift the curtain on the stuff we’re still trying to figure out.
This first post is about our invite process for accepting new members and why we’re doing it.
For the last few months, we’ve been designing Crew to be a system that helps mobile and web professionals find quality work, have a clean project process, and ensure payment is delivered on time.
To allow this to happen, Crew must be a source for consistent work. This is why we release invites as the supply of projects grow. We don’t want you to have to compete with hundreds of other professionals for the same work.
Yes, this means it takes us a bit of time to give access to new members but in the end, we think it will help you get paid what you’re worth and work on projects that you enjoy.
The number of projects are growing so we have started to release more invites. And we will review every portfolio.
When releasing invites, we start with member profiles who have completed their work history on their Crew portfolio. If you’d like to get access sooner, you can add up to 3 projects and references to your portfolio by logging in to your profile.
If you’d like to share any thoughts on this or would like to chat, we can hop on Skype (crewlabs) or tweet me any time.
Thank you again for your support. It means everything.
