At Crew we’re passionate about finding ways to approach business differently. And with this level of passion comes a lot of strong opinions.
We believe that if you have something to say, you should say it with confidence. Especially in the tech space where great products and websites are built on strong opinions.
And while we’ve gotten in trouble at a dinner party or two for being this opinionated, it’s also helped us scope and budget $25 million dollars in web design and development projects in the past 12 months alone.
So when we were looking for inspiration for our next release, we got opinionated.
What platform/technology should you use?
When we first started mapping out the feature set for this release of Crew, our main goal was to decrease the time it took to find the right freelancer for you.
When you’re excited about your project, the last thing you want is the process of finding the right designer or developer to slow you down!
But because every project is unique—from apps to websites to logos—it’s not that easy.
However, after working on thousands of projects, we found one question that came up almost every single time:
What platform or technology should I use?
More than just finding a great developer or designer, we found that people are coming to us for advice on how to build their project. And we have strong opinions on that too.
We’ve seen a lot of platforms come and go over the last three years at Crew. And while it’s exciting to explore the latest platforms, it’s not always in your best interests long term.
This is a huge problem in our industry. And one we want to help fix.
Over the last couple of months we dove deep into the thousands of projects that have been successfully completed on Crew and built packages that standardize the scope, platforms, and pricing for some of the most common web projects: websites and ecommerce sites.
In other words, you tell us what you want, we find the perfect freelancer for you.
No wait time. No back and forth. Just the best price for the best work.
Initially we’ll be offering instant matching on website and e-commerce sites and recommending Squarespace, WordPress, Shopify and Nationbuilder.
Why these platforms?
First, these are platforms that our community has worked closely with and have in-depth knowledge of, meaning you’ll get a superior product in less time.
Second, these platforms are now industry standards and we know they’ll be around to service you for years to come.
By recommending specific platforms and technologies like this we’re also able to make more accurate quotes and streamline a lot of the guesswork that comes with estimating a new project.
Share your visual inspiration right in your project brief
We know how great sites like Dribbble and Behance are for quickly finding a freelancer who matches the style you want. So we decided to bring that same feature into our own process.
By creating a moodboard for each project right in the brief, you’ll be giving our community a clearer vision of what you’re after.
At the same time, we’re able to use the images you’ve selected to make the right match by either connecting you with a freelancer whose style you’ve chosen or who does very similar work.
With these updates in place, we’re now able to instantly match you with a freelancer whose style you love and who is available to work right now, saving weeks of negotiation and allowing our talented network to focus on what they do best: Designing and developing beautiful sites.
We started Crew because we knew there was a better way for freelancers and businesses to work together. One where you get the talent you need and freelancers are free to focus on the creative process.
With this latest version, we’re one step closer to this dream.
